USPTO fees

USPTO fees are paid by you, to the USPTO, at filing. For a provisional application they start at $65 for a micro entity, $130 small, $325 large (USPTO fee schedule as of January 2026) — your package includes the exact estimate with its effective date printed on it. To keep the priority date, a non-provisional must follow within 12 months, typically with a patent attorney; you can hand your package to one directly from the product.

Failed drafting runs are refunded automatically. Cancel anytime from the billing portal. Prices exclude taxes.

Questions

Frequently asked

Do I pay USPTO fees separately?
Yes. Government fees go to the USPTO when you file. Your package includes an itemised estimate for your certified entity size, with its effective date printed on it.
What happens if a drafting run fails?
A failed stage resumes from where it stopped. If a run cannot complete, the credit is refunded automatically — you never pay for a package you did not receive.
Is my invention kept private?
Drafts are visible only to you. Files sit in a private bucket with keys tied to your account, and attorney share links expire after seven days.
Can I cancel Pro?
Yes, anytime from the billing portal. You keep access until the end of the paid period, and every package you generated stays downloadable.
